Are Birds Scary

Have you ever seen this horror movie called "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock. Well you can not really call it a horror movie as there are no ghosts or spirits involved, but still, I would call it horror or may be a scary one. Why? It is all because of the scary side of the birds that is shown to us in the movie. The sight surely send shivers up in my spine. That's for sure. I have only seen that movie once and I don't have the courage to watch it again!

But the movie generated a bad reputation for the birds all around. Come on, they are not that bad! Or are they? But thanks to movies like these a lot of species of birds are regarded as either vicious scavengers that are intent on death or some one who denote dark times or bad things. But why one should think that bad about the birds?

But the most pathetic part is that when these cute (and sometimes beautiful) birds are linked with the concept of death and seeing one is supposed to be a message that bad times are coming. That is not a fair thing to do, especially when it comes it comes to an association with these innocent birds who can't even speak in their defense? Does it make a fair deal to isolate certain species of birds and give them the term “scary” just because they are not as beautiful?

If we look at some of the literature peaces, we will find that some of the birds are seen as sinister spot. Let us have a look at some of the examples. In "Sleeping Beauty" by Disney, the villainess owns a pet (raven I guess) that is used as her evil spy. That does not mean that all the pet crows are evil. We should not make our own assumptions at all. May be that is why crows travel in packs called murders.

Just because some birds are not that beautiful, or feed on dead bodies (why don't you give them food) or look like a dangerous scary species, that does not mean that they are actually dangerous for mankind.

And one more, do you remember what you say when you see vultures or buzzards circling in the air, may be you say that there is either something dying or something that has already died, or something that is linked with a bad sign. Isn't it? I mean, come on, these things are a fake. Who are we to decide as to what is the role of these species and let nature decides what these species are designed for.
