Audio Recordings

It is one of the most common techniques used by people to teach their parrot to talk. In this step you need to buy an Audio CD or tape that is capable of looping over and over. Since, most pet owners felt their parrots became inactive listening to the same stuff over and over again. To avoid such situation it is advisable that you keep the sessions short. This is a cheap and easy way to teach "mimicking" to your parrot.

Parent-Parrot Teaching

In this step you need to talk to your parrot. Most pet owners consider this step to be more effective since it creates a bond with your parrot. You'll notice that the more you communicate with your parrot, the more it will respond back. As parrots are very social and depend a lot on this kind of attention. This step will never get boring instead fun for you and your parrot. Rewarding your bird will encourage them to talk more.

It is possible that your parrot mimics you initially much like a child learning to speak. Correcting your parrot will help you take the level a step further. By doing this, you will eventually teach the parrot to use the word in context.

Modeling

It is the final step on this topic. In this step you need the help of two trainers and the parrot. Although, many consider this method as unpractical but it can be very effective if you have the means to use this technique. Both the trainers show your parrot what is required. For example, the Trainer may ask the other trainer "what color is this" while holding up an object. The later will answer "blue" and the former trainer will respond with "no, the color is red". Now the trainer is required to repeat the question again. This time the other trainer will respond correctly and will be rewarded for the correct answer.
