What Is Fine Art?

Often, the concept of fine art is misunderstood by many people! Most people think that fine art refers to the quality of the art in question, but, it is not the case in actual. Well, fine art refers to the purity of a discipline.

This is reason why many of the performing arts, like ballet and theater are also known as fine arts. Again, fine art doesn't necessarily refer only to performing arts. Different art forms such as albeit sculpting, painting and many more are also considered as fine arts, as long as the purity of the art itself is at its best!

Now, the question arises, what is purity of a discipline? It was Aristotle who said it best when he said that imitation is the finest thing in human nature. Or, purity can also be described as our ability to be in harmony albeit with regards to rhythm or to nature itself.

Thus, now we can say that, fine arts are those whose purity is as close as possible to being in rhythm to imitation of human nature. However, this definition only refers to the performing arts, but when it comes to visual arts, like painting and sculpting, the concept of purity in art can vary from one art to another, as well as from a subclass of a particular art to another subclass of one art form!
