Is photography your hobby? Are you dying to click some wonderful snaps? Well, then  you must go for a digital camera because digital images are the latest trend of today! All you need to do is to have a basic understanding of  you digital camera. And you don't need to worry about that, because here is the assistance that you need to make the best use of your digital camera.

The smallest unit of measurement of a digital image is one pixel, which is a speck. Most of the digital photographs are atleast 3 mega pixels. The more the number of pixels, the better will be the quality of the image, and you will get a larger print out of your photograph.

The next thing that you need to know about your camera is its storage capacity because the pictures that you will click need to be stored in the camera, till you install and save them in your computer. All memory cards have the same exterior size but they have different storage memory internally. Often the sizes vary from 32MB, 64MB, 1GIG or even 2 GIG. The size of the card is what determines the amount of photos you can store in your camera. And yes, you must also carry some rechargeable batteries along with you because digital cameras are power hungry. Obviously you would not like to spoil the fun of taking different snaps because of lack of battery. So you should carry a spare one along with you.

You should also know how to turn your camera on properly. This is the most basic operation in any camera and each camera has different turn on procedure. It is turned on either either by opening the shutter or by a simple on/off button. Once the camera is in a ready position to click a photograph, there is some sort of indication light. One thing that you need to be careful about is that, while taking a snap, if you press the button half way down, then the camera will auot focus on the image it views through the lens.

One other feature that distinguishes a digital camera from the rest is that you can see the photograph that you just clicked. And if you think it's not a good snap then you can delete it and go ahead to click some more. It will help you in making a collection of your best snaps.

And yes, in order to save your pictures in your computer, you must install the software that came along with your new digital camera. Most digital cameras today are equipped with a USB cable for easily downloading the photographs into your PC.

So go ahead and enjoy your hobby!
