The onset of the new media revolution, gave rise to E-books (also known as electronic books). Slowly, it's gaining popularity on the internet. Most e-books are available from non-fiction, self help guides, latest bestseller to books written by an aspiring author. The new generation e-books are making access to these books more easy and user friendly. In the 90s, they were considered as the next BIG thing with many experts proclaiming that paper books was dead.

Defining E-books:

E-books are mainly digital versions of paper books. Unlike, what most people believe they are not meant to replace paper books. Instead, they offer an alternative reading option for book lovers. E-books are meant to provide a new dimension to the written word, allowing accessibility to books more easily.

One of the main reasons behind its huge popularity is the fact that books are delivered electronically to your computer. This option help people save a lot of money. Today, e-books can be accessed on a wide range of devices such as pda's and mobile phones. It is also available in a number of formats ranging from simple pdf files to sophisticated formats.

In addition, almost all genres are now covered in e-books including fiction, newspapers and magazines. The rise in the number of online business have led to a number of websites offering e-books with freebies as an added incentives to buy. Another interesting feature about e-books is that it can be downloaded quickly as compared to going to your local book shop. It also allow readers to start reading within a few seconds of purchasing it.

Hence, e-books doesn't mean the death of the book, but they're here to stay.
