One of the biggest problems that most service providers and freelancers face is to offer their services to anyone who requests them. However, it is advisable to reject such request sometimes. You must understand that every business have different needs in the same manner every client have a unique personality. It is important that projects are perfectly suitable for them.

As you know that selecting a wrong tool work for a job, or a "quick fix" instead of the best repair, will rarely work. Such things have a tendency to fall apart immediately. It is also possible that it may work for a while before it fails. But in the long run it won't work. In these situations, project turn out to be more stressful. Remember you're doing yourself a disservice by taking up a wrong project.

Here are a few indications that will help you know whether you're not right for the project.

  • The personalities don't match.
  • It is not your area of interest.
  • You don't feel any excitement about the project.
  • You have an unsettling feeling when you think of accepting the project.
  • You don't have the necessary experience to match.
  • You're in a bad phase to take a new project.

Always remain honest with yourself and the potential client. If the project isn't a good fit for you then say firm and clear no. If possible direct the client to a person you think is a better fit. Staying truthful with yourself and your clients will bring a sense of relief.
