The term USB flash drive refers to a small storage device, that is used for transferring files from one computer to another. It is extremely easy to use and carry. Just plug the device into a USB port and transfer different files of various sizes including, backups, personal documents, music, pictures, portable applications and more. At present, you'll find flash drives of varying size and shape. However, many people have started storing files of any kind. This habit has led to a real messy situation especially when you need to accommodate more files.

Although, deleting all the unnecessary files is one of the options, but it will be difficult if your files aren't properly organized. The fastest way to clear up disk space is by reformatting your USB flash drive. This step will make your flash drive completely clean, by removing all the files. Here are some of the basic tips to reformat your USB flash drive.

Backup:

Before, you format your USB flash drive make sure to copy all your important files on your system. Once you've reformatted your drive you can transfer the files back to your drive in an organized manner. This will allow you to manage your drive the next time you have disk space issues.

Reformatting Flash Drive in Window

Just right click on the USB flash drive that you wish to reformat and select "Format". A dialog box will open up with several options. Leave all the options alone unless you want to make certain changes. To ensure all the files get deleted without any errors uncheck the “Quick Format” option. Now, click on the "Start" button and wait for the device to fully format. Once the drive is fully reformatted it is ready to accept more files.

Reformatting a flash drive is a simple task. So, the next time you need more space or deleting a malicious virus from your drive just reformat it.
