Mistakes That You Shouldn't Make While Changing Career

People who have been experienced, know that career change is never easy! But, if you are willing to change your career, here are a few mistakes that you should not make:

  • Never look for a job in another field without giving it a serious thought. Before taking any step, first do a thorough self-assessment.
  • Never consider working in the "hot" industries, unless they are good for your.
  • Never go into a career field just because you have a friend that happens to be doing well in it. If you really want to go into it, seek further information about the job by networking, reading and doing online research.
  • Never necessarily stick with what you know. Try to stretch your perception by reading job profiles, exploring different career fields and completing some self-assessment exercises.
  • Never consider only money as your deciding factor for a joining a job. Remember, dissatisfaction and stress in the workplace can be the cause of your health problem.
  • Never impulsively head back to school. This is speaking for those that don't wish to incur debt, instead consider alternatives. You are never too old for an internship, a volunteer position to gain experience, contract position in the new field.
  • Never expect that a career changes overnight. Remember, a thorough career change usually takes a minimum of six months to a year to accomplish.
