Resignation Letter- How To Write One!

I am not going to ask you the reasons as to why you left your job or why you are planning to do so.

But I just know one thing that it is not at all an easy job, especially after many years of giving your all to your job and your coworkers. What ever the case is, you need to make sure that you must write a good resignation letter―a sensitive move that if done improperly may leave a very bad impression on your future employment opportunities. Trust me!

One more thing, it is important for all of you to understand that writing a resignation letter must be done from your head, not your gut. That means the letter should not be geared up with much of a emotion at all. No matter what kind of relationship your share with your boss, no matter how annoyed you are with your job or how much you hated your boss always write that letter with cool head. Remember:the world is extremely small and it can effect your future prospects as well. I would like to give some cool tips to write a perfect resignation letter.

  1. First of all make sure that you send a printed letter – Print the letter rather than hand-writing it, so that your boss can get all the details without misunderstanding any important issue.
  2. My next tip is don't make it too lengthy. Just keep it brief - How will you start the letter? Politely! Mention the important details: date, addressed to the full name of your direct superior, headline, body, and your name and signature.
  3. Just stay normal, cool headed and formal. At the same time try to be succinct i.e. "After much thought, I have decided to move on and leave (your organization's name)
  4. Never put any kind of negative effort in it. Try to take everything in a positive manner. You can start in the following way also: "I appreciate [the name of your organization] for giving me the opportunity to be part of your team. Then you can write further something about your pleasant experiences like: I wish you all the best and hereby inform you that I will be at your disposal before and after my departure for any matter that requires my assistance." make the company sure that you are always with them, don't show any kind of rude behavior.
  5. Mention prior notice
  6. Sign it manually and keep two copies of the original. These copies will play a very important role in case of any legal activities, if taken by anyone.
