One of the main elements that help in creating fashion collections as unique and special by the fashion designers is the textile designs. Only a trained and experienced textile designer can create exclusive designs and prints for clothes and furnishings. In fashion designs there are three main categories:

Haute couture: It is originally a French word which means 'high sewing.' As the name suggest it is a high-fashion clothing, which is very expensive and usually bough by rich people. This clothing is basically designed and manufactured for specific clients with "made-to-measure" technique. The fabric and design of this high fashion clothing is costly, which is stitched with minute attention to detail and finish. In fact, the term can be used by only by the companies that are the members of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture.

Ready-to-wear: Although, these garments are not meant for specific clients, but then also, a lot of attention is given to choose the proper fabrics and their cuts. Only a small quantity of these garments is produced to maintain exclusivity. Even though, they are not as expensive as Haute Couture but still they are presented during fashion weeks. Most of these collections are manufactured under the labels of fashion designers or under any fashion company labels for whom designers have made it. It mainly includes day wear, evening wear, lingerie, sportswear, bridal wear and accessories.

Mass market clothing: Finally, the clothes that are manufactured under this category are affordable and meant for the mass population. The fashion industry mainly depends on sales earned through mass market. It basically comprise of a wide range of ready-to-wear clothes which are offered in large quantities and standard sizes. The technique used to manufacture such clothes is simple machine. Although, the material used in the clothing is cheap but the designs represent creativity. The designs are mainly influenced by the trends set by the famous names in fashion.
