“Saluting The Sun” comes under the divine practice of doing Yoga. You must perform it once or twice when you get up in the morning to help relieve stiffness in your body. If you will perform the exercise at night, then it will help you to relax and will help you to sleep properly.

Steps:-

  • Stand properly with your feet slightly apart, palms should be together, thumbs should be placed against your chest.
  • Inhale deeply and raise your hands very slowly over your head, and bend back as far as possible.  Tighten your hips. Hold for four seconds.
  • Now exhale slowly, and bend forward, don't bend your knees, keep them straight, until your fingers touch the floor outside your feet. Bring your head in toward the knees.
  • Now inhale slowly, bend your knees, and place your fingertips outside your feet on the floor. Slide your right foot back as far as you are able to do it, with the right knee an inch off the floor. Now look in the upward direction, arching your back.
  • Before doing the exercise of exhaling again, slide your left foot back till it is firmed beside the right one, now support your weight on your palms and toes, straighten your legs so that your body forms a flat posture with your stomach pulled in.
  • Now exhale, bend your knees to the floor, bend with your buttocks in the air, lower your chest and forehead to touch the floor.
  • Now inhale slowly and look in the upward direction, bending your head in the back side, then raising it, followed by your upper chest, then lower chest. Your lower body should remain on the floor, and your elbows should be slightly bent. Hold for five seconds.
  • Now exhale slowly and raise your hips till the time your feet and palms are flat on the ground and your arms and legs are straight following an inverted V position.
  • Inhale slowly and bring your right foot forward as explained in step 4. The foot should be firm on the ground between your fingertips. The left leg should remain straighten behind you, with its knee slightly off the floor. Raise your head, look in the upward direction, and arch your back.
  • Slowly exhale and bring your left foot forward just adjacent to your right foot. Straighten your legs and stand properly, keep your fingertips on the ground, and try to touch your head to your knees as told in step 3.
  • Slowly inhale, move your arms in the upward direction and stretch back as shown in step2. Don't forget to tighten your hips. Hold for four seconds again.
  • Slowly exhale, put your arms down. Relax. Repeat the whole exercise again.
