Just as a car has it's own gear, similarly breakfast is the most important gear of human life! Eating a healthy breakfast really triggers the tone of your body for the rest of the day. In this “HURRIED-UP” world we live in, the initial thought at the commencement of the day should not be about avoiding your most important meal. Rather, it should be making additional time to have your breakfast full of nutritious values.

Here are some helpful tips that are very useful in terms of serving breakfast:

  • Kids really like French toast a lot. Add a little cinnamon to the batter to add richness and variety!
  • You can set the breakfast table the night before to save time so that you can serve fresh food in the morning!
  • Keep the batter ready in the refrigerator, ready to be poured in the bowls.
  • If you love to bake healthy muffins. keep them in freezer and they can be warmed in the microwave anytime!
  • Try making your own nutritious granola bars at home.

Now to use these healthy ideas in making a nourishing breakfast, here are some of the recipes that you can try to please your family members with a pinch of some alimentary values:

Cinnamon Biscuits

 

  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cups biscuit mix
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation:

 

  • Mix sugar, pecans and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Mix the crushed biscuits, using the cold water to mix the contents.
  • Roughly shape the mixture into a ball and place it on a sheet of waxed paper.
  • Press down slightly, then cut in equal wedges.
  • Shape each wedge into a ball and roll them in melted butter.
  • Then roll them in sugar and pecan mixture
  • Arrange dough balls in 8-inch round layer-cake pan, pressing down slightly.
  • Bake in preheated 400° oven for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  • Serve cinnamon biscuits warm.

Healthy Banana Waffles:

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 5 tablespoons melted shortening
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs, separated

Preparation:

  • Mix all the dry ingredients
  • Mix milk, melted shortening and beaten eggs and combine the mixture with the dry ingredients.
  • Beat them until they become smooth.
  • Stir in sliced banana.
  • Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Pour or spoon batter into each section of a hot waffle iron.
  • Cook banana waffles until crispy and browned.

Applesauce pancakes with a little vanilla.

Ingredients:

  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups applesauce
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk

Preparation:

  • Mix salt, flour and baking powder into a small mixing bowl.
  • Stir into the dry ingredients and combine butter, egg and milk separately.
  • Add vanilla and applesauce and combine the ingredients all together to form a batter.
  • Spoon batter into a hot, well greased griddle, enough batter to applesauce pancakes about 4 inches in diameter.
  • When pancake edges are lightly browned, turn and cook on the other side.
  • Serve applesauce pancakes hot with maple syrup and butter.
  • Apple will add the nutritious as well as the delicious value to your pancakes.
