Beer is very popular throughout Germany. Germany offers more than 1,000 breweries, which is more than any other country in the world.  
The beer which is manufactured in Germany has pass through a purity law, which makes the manufacturers aware as to what ingredients can and can’t be used.  Basically, the only ingredients allowed to manufacture beer in Germany are water, hops, and barley malt.

Due to the strict rules followed by the manufacturers, you can easily notice German beers by their quality level.  They have a unique kind of taste, with little to no aftertaste.  Some styles of German ale are Koelsch, Weizen, and Altbier.  Some typical styles of German lagers include Bock, Pilsener, Dunkel, Helles, and Maerzen.  You must know  that the taste, smell, and color can differ, although all can be identified as being the real German beers.

Altbier in itself is a very common dark ale, which is top fermented in the lower areas of the country.  The beer has a kind of yellow color, with a taste that is rich in hops. Rauchbier, is known to have a smoky aroma, flavor and color.  These beersoffer a great taste, and are really very popular all over the world.

German lagers are really very popular, not only in Germany but other areas of the world as well.  Pilsener is one of the most famous of all German beers, providing you with more hops and less malt.  Pilsener is available for sale all over the world, and is really very famous throughout North America as well. So many bars and pubs serve it as well, as it happens to be one of the most popular dark lagers out there.

Throughout the country, there are so many different companies, that manufacture over 4,000 different brands of beers.  Some of the famous companies of north Germany are Beck, St. Pauli, Warsteiner, and Krombach. There are so many breweries in the southern part of Germany, although most of them are smaller, as they are functioned at owned at a smaller level.  The southern part of Germany also contains the Benedictine Abbey, which is one of the oldest breweries not only in Germany but all over the world.  This brewery started producing beer in the year 1040 – Isn't it great?

Germany also plays host to the Oktoberfest, which is held every year in Munich.  It starts in   September and carries on for two weeks, and ends around October.  During Oktoberfest, beer lovers and fanatics from all over the world visit Germany to celebrate a wide variety of German beers.  Each and every year, over 5 million people come and visit the fest, making it one of the biggest beer events in the world.

During the event, local breweries in Munich are the only breweries allowed to serve beer in large sheds and tents.  There are six breweries all together that offer a variety if beer.  By attending this great fest, you can learn more about German beer, sample the various kinds, and enjoy the rich smoky flavor that make German beer so very famous.

Due to the immense success and popularity that Oktoberfest gets each and every year, other cities around the world try to copy this event.  Even though they manage to achieve success, their level of success does not equal the original Oktoberfest which is held in Germany.  German beers are really very famous around the world, with Oktoberfest helping to prove that very claim. If you are a beer lover but have never experienced Germany beers, you really should give them a try.  Once you do, you’ll surely come to know as to why German beers are so very popular
