Big Government Is Bad Government

This is apparent that today Western democracies are becoming more involved in the trivia of our lives. The fact remain true that all governments, irrespective of their no political leaning seem to be under the impression that they know what is best for each and every one of us. Instead of involving themselves in the great issues, they are interested in our personal lives and are legislating on details about how we conduct our lives on a daily basis. They are continuously instructing us on what generally we should not do. This is why Western societies are now becoming more and more restrictive. It seems that vocal and active minorities have more and more influence over the legislators.

A majority of population are insensible, who hold no strong views one way or the other. This is why the governments take the advantage and continue to march on eroding away at our liberties. And what do they say after doing this? Well, the common excuse is that it is done for the benefit of all.

Government leaders always say that they know what is best for us, for they can see the bigger picture, or they understand all the issues. Perhaps, this is why they invade Iraq, ban fox hunting, or ban smoking. All have been done for different reasons. However, Iraq and the reasons for invasion are still unclear; while fox hunting has been banned because it is cruel; and smoking is banned for it is unhealthy.
