Black Hat SEO

Black Hat SEO strategies are a quick means of increasing the traffic on your website. It's not only a fashionable trend to use them but they also work equally well with the search engines. Black hat strategies are quick fixes with short-term gains.

White Hat strategies are really very slow because they are at the mercy of the search engines. That's why many webmasters give preference to black hat over white hat SEO strategies. But continuous laborious efforts are required for black hat strategies. Black hat involves spamming and the SEs does not like this.

There are two ways of spamming:

  • On Page Spamming
  • Off Page Spamming

On Page Spamming

  • Keyword Stuffing: There are two forms of keyword stuffing.
  • a)Keyword List stuffing: This involves adding every word known to your niche in the meta keywords. You see a website with meta keywords and it is stuffed full with 1000 or so keywords. But this is not helpful in getting a high rank.
  • b)Keyword Body stuffing: This is the process of taking your keyword list and repeating it all over the page. Over using the keywords is of no use to the users.

  • The Invisible Keyword: This involves taking your keywords, putting them on the body of your website and making the color of the font the same color as the background of the website. It may be invisible to you, but visible to Ses.
  • Formatting Keywords: There is no need to make bold, italicize or underline every keyword on your website. The SEs will give less importance to the words.
  • Excessive Link Pages: You should stick to around 15-25 links on one page. Anything more than that can create a clutter on your website that will make it difficult for your surfers.
  • Missing Title: Most of the websites do not have a title at all. This is one of the top reasons why websites do not rank period. Just this one change alone could move a website from the 100millionth page to the millionth page.

Off Page Spamming

The difference between on-page and off-page is that, on-page is the way you set your site up. Off-page involves more of the linking side. You cannot really help whom links to you and SEs know this.

  • Link Farms: Link farms are a bunch of webmasters getting together to setup 1000s of sites and pointing the links towards each other. When you do your link campaign, stick with hard reciprocal linking. There are link director sites like PowerLinks or Linkvault that brag about helping your build links faster. These are essentially link farms. Avoid them.
  • Banned / Penalized Sites: You cannot control who links to you, but you have full control over which you link to. Avoid linking to other penalized or banned sites. The easiest way to check whether a site is banned or not, is by checking the pagerank of the site you are linking to. If you see a gray bar for the pagerank its been banned. Having a PR of 0 does not mean the site has been penalized.

So, if the webmasters look for quick and easy ways to beat the Ses, the Ses will catch them up.
