Have you found that your disturbed child has been excessively stressed with alcohol and drugs? It is a shattering exposure for many parents who come to find out their kids addicted to such things. Crash, distress, blame and awkwardness are some of the first thoughts that come into their minds. But, you must remember that you are not the only one facing such a condition. There are many families who have conquered such drug abuse in the past.

There are many teem websites, which try to instruct people about why teens have become use to, what they are using and how those drugs are depressing teens in a collective and psychological manner.

Symptoms of Drug Addiction or Abuse

  • Inability of adults to relax or have fun without drugs and alcohol.
  • Frequent borrowing of money, stealing items from home or school and selling possessions.
  • Changes in the work or school attendance as well as lowering quality of work or grades.
  • Mood fluctuations, irritability, rude behavior, angry outbursts and changes in the overall attitude.
  • Making inappropriate remarks or talking in an incoherent manner.
  • Change in physical appearance and deterioration of grooming.
  • Wearing sunglasses or long sleeve shirts at inappropriate times or frequently.
  • Talking about drugs and pressuring other people to use them.
  • Showing feelings of exhaustion, hopelessness and depression.
  • Looking for drugs after getting up every morning.

To prevent all this, parents should have an open conversation with the child about drugs, and especially the drugs in your house. They should stay at the top of it and know the inventory. It is better to talk to principals and teacher of their school, family doctor and a pharmacist.

Parents must know that drug abuse prevention starts within your own house, only if the caretaker is responsible. Having a family discussion or planning about how to handle the medications in the house will prove to be an effective preventative measure.
