Making a Teen Diet Plan

By watching shows like “90210” and “The Hills”, many teens often desire to look their favorite star and wonder why they don't have a body like actors and actresses in the show. They make these people as their idol and want to look and be just like them.

At such time, it becomes important for parents to educate teens about the dangers of certain diets, and what are the steps to lose weight in a safer and more healthy manner.

One must know that the diet plan of a teen should not be different from that of any average adult. The combination of right food with a good fitness plan will help in molding their body in a fit and healthy way.

Educate


The first step should be educating yourself. Find out what is a proper diet and fitness plan for your child. It is always better to talk to a family physician to find out what is the right course of action according to him. You can ask a dietitian to make a menu that will be as per the type of lifestyle of your teen. Also know more about fad diets and other eating disorders.

Making a Plan


After this, try to find out the intention of your kid for himself. Know if he wants to lost large amount or just a few pounds to get an impressive body. Whatever their desire is, make sure you site down with them to discuss goals and time frame. Make them realize that they just can't lose 50 pounds in a week. You must use the skills you have learned to make a plan that will work for them.

Executing the Plan

After setting a plan, your next step should be to do it. Try to make it a family activity to go for walks together after the dinner. Set up activities that involve the participation of everybody. You can go to a park, on a hike or a leisurely bike ride. But be sure that whatever you choose must be enjoying for everyone.
