Skill, attitude and patience are the three most important elements that you require as a softball pitcher. Here are some of the important tips to improve your softball pitching:

  • Warm Up – You need to have a warm up session before going to the field. In this session try to establish a primary pitch first and focus on your target areas. Make sure to practice a few pitch outs both on the outside and inside strike zone. After warm ups are over wear a jacket.
  • Positive – It is important to be in a positive state of mind while playing the game. Only a positive attitude can help you win the game. To become a good pitcher you need to be mentally and physically tough.
  • Checkpoints – To keep your arm properly aligned you can use two checkpoints. Remember not to step out towards home plate with the stride foot pointed. Try and take shorter stride for raising your release points. Usually, when kids rush their deliveries, high wildness happen.
  • Instruction – Instruct your players to hold the ball in his glove a split second longer in his windup. Keep a close watch on the youngster's head so that he doesn't put his head on a swivel.
  • Balance – It is important that a pitcher doesn't take too big steps with his non-dominant foot when beginning his windup. His steps shouldn't be more than 6 inches behind the rubber.
  • Maintain – The pitcher should maintain his rhythm as his fast pitches-purpose of pitch is to deceive the batter and upset her timing. Make sure to test by releasing ball with side or back of hand facing plate of release. Developing a pre-pitch routine is also very important.

These are some of the important tips that will help you become a good pitcher. Therefore, set realistic goals and accept criticism. Instead of moving your arm try swinging it to increase pitching speed.
