Do you the basic factors that decide whether a particular sport is an extreme sport or not? Though, there are many sports, which can be termed as extreme sport today but how did they become to be known as such? This article will answer all these questions. Generally,the associated adrenaline rush that comes from the sport is one of the basic factors behind the addiction to these sports. These are some of the common examples of extreme sports.

One of the best known of extreme sports that was discovered in the sixties is skateboarding. The sport was invented by bored surfers looking for a way to get exercise and cross train when the surf wasn't up. Slowly the sport became quite popular and became an integral part of most of the national competitions around the world. From its humble beginnings the sport has now garnered worldwide attention.

As most of the regions in America experience cold weather, so skateboarding was transformed into snow boarding which takes the same movements and more onto the snow. Today, this extreme sport has really caught the attention of many. In the last winter Olympics, snowboarding events were among one the most popular. With its popularity, many trails and trick spots were also added.

Another popular extreme sport is BMX biking. Though, the sport has various different versions. For instance, the traditional racing with dirt jumps and obstacles. One of the biking styles that is closely related to skateboarding is the Freestyle BMX. The sport make use of the same courses as the skateboarders use and perform tricks on their bikes.

In freestyle skiing the participants(skiers) are required to do all the crazy tricks and flips coming off of ramps on the slopes. It is one of the most popular of the winter extreme sports. Even this sport has its unique set of tricks and its own language.

Sport climbing is another extreme sport which is meant for the more mature participants. This sport has recently evolved. It has also led to the invention of handgrips and a designated course to climb.

Have you ever tried jumping out of an airplane? Though, not many people have tried this sport, but still it has become a very popular sport because of the enormous adrenaline rush from the initial jump. During the free fall, parachuting teams work together to form shapes and perform choreographed aerial maneuvers.

In the recent times, there has been an increase in the demand for extreme sports. There is no doubt that as our culture seeks new ways to create excitement, which may prove to be just as popular as the ones we see now.
