In this era of cutthroat competition and constant pressure of performing over the top, the importance of an efficient management can never be emphasized enough. Good managers will consistently motivate you to perform and produce optimally. A bad manager's leadership, on the other hand, will only lead to decreased productivity and increased turnover, which, in the long run can prove fatal for any organization.

The following are seven secrets to being the perfect leader everyone wishes to work for:

A clear vision

The areas of prime concern of a brilliant leader not only include assigning tasks or monitoring performance but they also play an instrumental role in foreseeing and planning for the future and motivating others to align themselves with the same vision so they can all be united in thriving to accomplish that vision. Instead of dwelling on limited problems, the perfect leaders look at the big picture. They live the organization's mission and dedicate all their efforts to accomplishing the mission.

An understanding mind

It is impossible to keep all your employees happy at all times and that is duly understood. However, the perfect leaders realize that to be effective, they must cater to the needs of most of the team. Good leaders have to realize that the work environment cannot be treated like a popularity contest. Good leaders treat all employees with equal respect and are consistent with their actions and words. At the same time, they must have the insight to understand the unique needs every employee has and must administer that knowledge to motivate every employee towards the attainment of the common goal.

Effective communication

Effective communication is one of the golden keys to unlocking the doors to being the perfect manager. One cannot overemphasize the impediments that poor communication skills create in the formation of manager-employee relationships and ultimately in the achievement of larger organizational goals. It is essential for every manager to clearly communicate job expectations and standards to his / her employee to get the expected results out of them. Every employee must get a feedback on their performance; being duly credited for their excellence and also being reminded of their shortcomings. The mission must be effectively communicated and the language of communication must at all times have a positive and motivational aura about it. An innovative leader will always communicate through a combination of methods: person- to-person, e-mail, phone and meetings.

A common ground

Some managers fail to understand that they are in a business that is primarily constituted by people and they lack patience in dealing with their team members. Perfect leaders will naturally understand that some employees will need consistent managing while others will not need constant direction and supervision. Some employees need refocusing, while others will be very focused. Perfect leaders recognize the need to establish a common ground with each person.

Formidable foresight

Good managers are committed to their work force's professional advancement and do everything possible to help staff members develop their capabilities. These leaders see the employees for what they can become and not what they are now. These leaders' actions might range from improving specific aspects of job performance, to delegating special assignments, to developing an action plan for promotions. Perfect leaders must have the ability to assess the strengths and weaknesses of employees and use that to initiate continuous improvement.

A strong belief

Exemplary leaders have utmost belief in the best qualities of their employees. They strongly believe that their employees are smart enough to handle tasks and find solutions to challenges if given the correct opportunity and guidance. This comes with the faith in employees that builds up based on their past victories along with faith in oneself about imparting to every employee the right knowledge and support needed to produce desired results.

Unshaken integrity

It is important that employees are reassured about trusting the manager's words and actions. This means honesty, fairness and consistency while interacting with employees. If employees share a private and confidential subject with their managers in the morning, this must not be known throughout the organization within the afternoon. Also, if managers promise to give employees an answer by the end of the day and never get back to the employees, the manager's integrity is destroyed. The best leaders realize that their word is the reflection of their soul. Exemplary leaders work at being honest and reliable everyday.

So, who said being an exemplary leader was a bitter act of providence? A brave heart, an honest soul and an unfailing commitment towards the excellence of the company and welfare of employees are that you need to kick starting your mission.
