The Power of Self Development!

It is the birthright of every human being to be happy and be liberated from all the agony of life. Happiness in one's life is as normal condition as the natural landscapes and the seasons. As ironical as it may sound, it is against nature to suffer and it is only because of ourselves that we suffer. As they say 'Happiness is the product of wisdom', and in order to attain wisdom one has to comprehend fully the purpose of life. True wisdom is boundless joy.

We suffer in life because we lack the spiritual illumination that enables us to move safely through the obstacles that are lined up for us. We usually don't suspect the presence of trouble until it suddenly appears from nowhere. One day we are happy with our family and surroundings and the next we may be surrounded by miseries. Our friend today might turn into an enemy tomorrow without us even realizing so.  A little while ago we had wealth  and luxuries and now we have only poverty and misery, but, we again don't know why. Apart from these greater tragedies of life, numerous things of lesser consequence continue to bring us little miseries and heartaches. We  desire to avoid them whole-heartedly, but, we never see them until they hit us. The most important thing in life that we lack immensely is the spiritual illumination that will encourage us to look above and beyond tour daily lives and find the hidden causes of human suffering. Once the reasons are detected, the method by which they may be avoided could be devised. It seems like we must go through a long, dark room. In the darkness our growth and journey would be slow and agonizing. If we could, however, press a button that would turn on the enlightened self within us, we could then make the same journey swiftly and comfortably.

The traditional method of education was to feed the brain with innumerable facts, or supposed facts, as they could be accumulated. The traditional theory  held that when a person descended the earth, he / she was a rounded human being and that all that could be done for him / her was to feed them with information that would be used with some skill, in consonance with the native ability he was supposed to be born with. The theosophical idea holds that the physical man and all that structures his life in the natural physical world, is only a limited expression of the self. It was believed that there is practically infinite power and wisdom within a person and that these may be brought out into expression in the physical world in the form of the physical body and its invisible components, which together make up the complex vehicle of the ego's reflection. For the realization of this purpose conscious effort is given to such self-development in the hope that spiritual illumination be achieved and wisdom be attained. As a result, the light that leads us to happiness is born and manifested from within and the evolutionary journey that all are making towards self-realization may be sans its sufferings.

When we have comprehended the lessons that sufferings teach us, you must realize that they have played their role and are no longer necessary. It is not by the physical knowledge of facts that men ans women become wise and great. It is by developing the spiritual side of oneself and by beckoning the soul from within that ultimately illuminates the brain towards self-development.
