Rebates– Reward or Rip Off?

Owner

Rebates are getting famous day by day! Rebates are available on a lot of items and  electronic items and computers are the hottest amongst them. Normally a healthy rebate deals with $40-$100.

I have even witnessed a number of advertisements that show signs of “free after rebate”. But I never get this feeling that these kind of offers are worthy. In fact I am never able to make my mind on these kind of rebates . I find them “too good to be true.” I don't know why but I never tend to trust heavy offers at all. They do not offer me the credibility factor that I usually look in offers of all sorts! A lot of these rebates do and there are “catches” to look out for but if you are careful, rabbets can help you get some really good deals.

This is how the whole process of discount works: You tend to pay  the retail price for an item. After paying, you tend to mail in a form and the bar code to the fabric ant.
In response, they send you a back percentage of the purchase price. This way the whole price range is reduced of what you paid for the item except with a time delay of several weeks. Here are certain rules to keep in mind:

Rule #1. Rabbets from good, credible companies

you can make your mind and at the same time have surety that you will get the promised rebate from credible companies, for example Dell! But at the same time you should not expect that you will get a good rebate from a totally unknown company.
If you are really eager to purchase that product and don't have any problem in paying the full price that's listed then you can actually purchase that product (even from a less reputed company) but never expect actually getting the refund.

Rule #2. Expiry Dates Of Your Rebates

the fact is that a lot of products are not so popular and they tend to remain on the shelf of venders only. These products remain there also after the date for sending in the rebate offer has expired so check that date carefully.

Rule #3. You have all the forms?

In order to avail any kind of discount, the fact is that you will  always require a form to be filled out. These documents also include a receipt that comes with the purchase of the product as well as a bar code.

Rule #4. Rebate claim. Do you have a back up?

Have backup of the discounts. That is, make copies of your rebates and store them in a separate file in case, you are required to show them as a proof!
