Atkins Snack Choices

Don't think that if you are following an Atkins diet then you don't have good options to eat! It's not like that. An Atkins diet is geared up with several yummy, yet appetite suppressing options. Here are some tips on what to eat and what not to eat :

a) Proteins

It is the most important aspect of an Atkins diet and that is why you need to focus more on protein foods.

You can include the following food items in your diet: meat, eggs and seafood. If you are a vegetarian, then include various types of pulses, soybeans and leafy vegetables.

b) Carbohydrates

There is no need to go for a meal that is geared up with carbohydrates. You can restrict carbohydrates amount to about twenty grams of net carbs.

c) Veggies

your diet should be geared up with at least 12-15 grams of carbohydrate from vegetables. So one must have a thorough knowledge as to what kind of vegetable has how much amount of protein!

d) Cheese

When on an Atkins diet, you should not have more than 3-4 ounces of cheese per day. You can include cream cheese. But the introduction of cottage cheese in the meal is not allowed.

e) Fats and oils

Atkins diet does not says that you should go on a low fat version. But don't overdo it.

f) Beverages

Water is very necessary! You need to drink about eight glasses of water per day. You can also have herbal teas.

g) Fiber

Extra fiber is a must for an Atkins diet. So if you are following an Atkins diet, you need to get extra fiber.

h) Olive oil

no olive oil please. Rather go with extra virgin, it would be better.

i) Salad dressings

Go for olive oil dressings. Discard Mayonnaise or cheese entirely from the dressing.

j) Corn

You should strictly avoid corn safflower, soy and sunflower oil.
