Steps For Writing a College Essay

If you are a writer, then you must be aware of the fact that not every writer thinks in the same manner. Right? And that is why the steps for writing an essay are not always the same for every writer. But as far as a general approach is concerned, we will be able to recognize the fact that a general system can be applied to most writing situations, especially on those projects that you find difficult to write.

I teach in a well reputed college and always tell my college writing students that essay writing is a process. It is a gradual process infact! The reality is that a majority of people connect the term "process" with a lot of complications, but it is very important to understand it and think about how it applies to your writing strategy.

Is anyone aware of as to what is a writing process? As far as the general terms are concerned, the process of writing an is the series of steps you take from brainstorming to drafting to the actual commencement of your essay, that is providing the finishing touch. But a lot of college writing textbooks and instructors are of the view that writing process is a linear model (a straight line), this is not always the best way to go about it. As I said in the beginning itself that everyone has their own perceptions.

A lot of writers have a habit of working their best when they are under pressure. And some of them have a tendency of giving out excellent performance outdoors. Other writers need loud music. And the list goes on. In the same way, a lot of writers need library settings to complete their best compositions. So my tip is that no matter whay your needs are you must determine what works well for you.

In general, all the essay writing processes deal with three main stages. They are pre-writing, writing, and revising. The first stage deals with jotting down rough ideas in your mind, and then fine tuning them. The stage is basically the work you do to get started with an essay.

The second stage is the actual process of composing your first draft. That means making a complete essay of all the points that were fine tuned before. It is advised that students should complete this step in one sitting. Revising is the last step.
